The Michael Tynan Memorial Challenge’s purpose is to raise funds for SSMRF & UOW to improve local lives through medical research.
Some of the research initiatives by SSMRF & UOW are really close to my heart. One of those is MIND the GaP (Mental Illness in Nowra District - Goals and Prevention), which focuses on suicide prevention and community resilience.
Based at the UOW Shoalhaven Campus, this facility brings together researchers, front line service providers (such as LifeLine South Coast) and healthcare professionals to address mental health issues for vulnerable groups, such as adolescents, the Aboriginal population, high risk occupations and people from low socio-economic backgrounds.
MIND the GaP is about helping local people, so we can all live healthier, longer, and more compassionate lives.
