Honouring Justin Yerbury

The Michael Tynan Challenge would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Professor Justin Yerbury, who has sadly passed away after an ongoing fight with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Justin Yerbury was a professor in Neurodegenerative Diseases at UOW, having first been motivated to research and better understand Motor Neurone Disease after his family's personal struggle and loss as a result of it. Every year in Australia two people are diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Professor Yerbury’s research team was already working towards improving the understanding and treatment of MND when he too was diagnosed with the disease in 2016.

In honour of Justin’s life and to help his vital research continue, the University of Wollongong has established the “Justin Yerbury Chair in Neurodegenerative Diseases.”
